Fort Worth Cats News Release

The Cats rebounded from their extra-innings loss on Wednesday to take game one of a four-game series against the San Angelo Colts on Thursday.

One run came across in the top of the first for the Colts (22-19), but the inning ended when a pitch went to the backstop and catcher Shelby Ford got to the ball and threw out Colts third baseman Ryan Hutson trying to score at the plate.

After that, Cats' starter Kyle Wilson shut down the Colts' bats. He only allowed four hits - three of them coming in the first inning - in the game and struck out six. He now has a 2-0 record and 0.64 ERA since joining the Cats (26-15).

The Cats took the lead in the second on a Cameron Monger two-RBI single and never gave it up. The team added a run in the third on Shelby Ford's second home run of the year, four runs in the fourth and an extra insurance run in the fifth.

Monger, Ford and designated hitter Daniel Meeley contributed with 2 RBI each.

The Cats and the Colts square off in game two on Friday at 7:05 p.m. at LaGrave Field.

Tickets to all home games can be purchased by going online to FWCats.com or by calling (817) 332-CATS.
