Alexandria Aces News Release

The Alexandria Aces have activated pitcher Ryan Waters, an LSU-Alexandria alumus, and infielder Craig Littleman from the inactive list.

Waters, a 6-5, 250-pound righthander, impressed manager Von Hayes in his last outing, a three inning scorless stint against San Angelo on June 25. For the season, Waters is 0-1 with a 7.36 earned run average, but does have an impressive 14-5 strikeouts to walks ratio in 11 innings, encompassing four relief appearances and one start.

Littleman, who was the starting third baseman for the Aces prior to his hand injury, is hitting .194 (7 for 36) with no home runs, three runs batted in, and five doubles.

To make room for the two players, pitcher Craig Vanderlaan was released and outfielder Zack Cadet was placed on the inactive list, retroactive to July 1.

Vanderlaan began the season in the starting rotation but was 0-3 with a 7.26 earned run average in six starts and three relief appearances.

Cadet was a starting outfielder for the Aces prior to pulling a muscle in his leg. Though a recent 2 for 21 slump had reduced his average to .227, Cadet had walked 25 times for an on base percentage of .345. He is among the league leaders for the Aces with three home runs, eight doubles, 10 stolen bases, and 27 runs and had driven in 21 runs as primarily leadoff hitter.

The Aces also signed infielder Josh Band during their last road trip and released infielder Trevor McDonald.

McDonald played for the Aces in one game against the Edinburg Roadrunners, subbing for injured second baseman Eddie Murray.

Band has played in the last four games for Alexandria and is impressing with five hits in 13 at bats (.385). Four of his hits have gone for extra bases, and he has scored and driven in four runs while stealing three bases and collecting two walks.

The Aces begin a four game homestand tonight against the Edinburg Roadrunners! Jon Jones (4-1) goes for the league lead in victories for the Aces against righthander Austin Fraker (1-0).
