
Wilson Powers Sea Dogs to Eighth Straight Win

Portland, Maine - Izzy Wilson went 4-for-4, with two homers, including a walk-off home run, to lead the Portland Sea Dogs (11-2, 41-41) to their eighth-straight win, taking down the Somerset Patriots (6-7, 50-32) by a score of 10-8 on Tuesday at Hadlock Field.
After the game started with a 2:35 hour rain delay, the Patriots brought home the first two runs of the game in the top of the first inning. Anthony Volpe led off with a single. Elijah Dunham followed with a two-run homer, his 11th of the season, giving Somerset a 2-0 lead.
Portland drove in a run in the bottom of the second inning. Izzy Wilson led off with a triple. One out later, David Hamilton plated him with a groundout to first, cutting into the Patriots lead, 2-1. Somerset responded with a run in the top of the third inning on a Blake Perkins RBI single, bringing their lead back to two runs, 3-1.
Three more runs came around to score for the Patriots in the top of the fourth inning. Chad Bell led off with a walk and Volpe hit a ground-rule double to right, putting runners on second and third. Dunham brought both runners home with a two-run double to right, making it a 5-1 lead. Later in the inning, Dunham came around to score on a wild pitch, increasing their advantage to 6-1.
Portland's offense started fighting back in the bottom of the fourth. Christian Koss singled and Wilson clubbed a two-run homer, bringing the score to 6-3. The Sea Dogs plated three more runs in the bottom of the fifth. Wil Dalton was hit by a pitch and Elih Marrero hit a two-run homer. It was his second of the season and brought Portland within a run, 6-5. One out later, Ceddanne Rafaela was hit by a pitch. Tyreque Reed entered to pinch run for Rafaela, and later came around to score on an RBI base hit from Wilson, tying the game 6-6.
The Sea Dogs were able to take their first lead of the night in the bottom of the seventh. Marrero led off with a walk, stole second, and advanced to third on a fly ball from Reed. Marrero came in to score on a wild pitch by Somerset reliever Tanner Myatt, giving Portland their first lead 7-6. The Sea Dogs added another run in the bottom of the eighth on a Wil Dalton solo homer, making the lead 8-6.
After the first two outs in the top of the ninth, the Patriots were able to tie the game. Jeisson Rosario singled to right and Jesus Bastidas doubled to left, putting runners on second and third. Blake Perkins lined a double to left, scoring both runners, tying the game 8-8.
In the bottom of the ninth inning, Christian Koss worked a two-out walk to get things started. Wilson stepped up to the plate and launched his second home run of the night, sending the Sea Dogs home with a walk-off victory 10-8, extending their win streak to eight games.
Oddanier Mosqueda (4-1, 3.18 ERA) tossed 1.0 inning, allowing two runs on three hits while striking out three and picking up his fourth win of the year. Barrett Loseke (6-2, 3.31 ERA) worked through 1.2 innings, surrendering three runs on two hits, walking one and striking out one in his second loss of the year.
The Sea Dogs and Patriots play the second game of a six-game series on Wednesday with first pitch at 6:00 PM. Portland sends RHP Brett Kennedy (2-4, 4.46 ERA) to the mound against Somerset RHP Will Warren (4-2, 2.37 ERA).
