Indianapolis Indians News Release
LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Trevor Williams' six scoreless innings powered the Indians to a 4-0 shutout victory over the host Bats on Friday at Louisville Slugger Field.
Williams (5-4) allowed just three hits and one walk while striking out four batters. He's now given up just one run in his last 23 full innings of work. The right-hander has compiled a 1.04 ERA and 0.50 WHIP over his last four starts.
Cincinnati Reds rehabber Homer Bailey (0-2) was charged with the loss for Louisville (45-48) after allowing three runs in four innings.
Indianapolis (49-45) scored two runs in the second after an overly aggressive start appeared to set the Indians back. Jason Rogers doubled, but was thrown out trying for third. A walk and a hit set up a run-scoring error.
Danny Ortiz then stole home on a double steal, the first swipe of home for Indy since 2014.
The Tribe tacked on another run in the fourth with an RBI fielder's choice for Willy Garcia.
The final run of the game came across in the eighth for the Indians on a three-base error committed by Bats shortstop Hernan Iribarren.
Curtis Partch, Kelvin Marte, and Trey Haley combined to work three perfect innings to finish the game.
The two teams will resume action on Saturday at 6:05 p.m. This story was not subject to the approval of the National Association of Professional Baseball Leagues or its clubs.
