Sioux Falls Skyforce News Release
SIOUX FALLS, S.D., March 23 - Frank Williams nearly posted a triple-double with 15 points, nine rebounds and eight assists as the Sioux Falls Skyforce never trailed in a 115-105 victory over the Tulsa 66ers at the Sioux Falls Arena on Friday night.
Williams made two three-pointers, giving him 114 on the season and breaking the D-League record for three-pointers made in a season set by Desmon Farmer (113) just last season.
"I wouldn't call myself a three-point shooter," Williams said. "But my teammates have shown confidence in me and encourage me to knock it down."
Sioux Falls (26-16) jumped out to a quick start as they led by as many as 22 points in the opening quarter. Damone Brown led the attack as he posted 14 of his team-high 20 points in the first quarter.
"In the first quarter we came out great," Sioux Falls coach Mo McHone said. "We're not going to play much better than that."
The Skyforce continued to pour it on as they led by as many as 30 points on several occasions in the third quarter. Tulsa (17-24) would not go down without a fight though as they cut the lead in half and trailed 102-88 with less than five minutes to go in the game. It was too little to late though as the Skyforce won their sixth straight contest and are now tied with the Dakota Wizards for first place in the Eastern Division.
Denham Brown scored a game-high 26 points while New Orleans/Oklahoma City Hornets assignee Marcus Vinicius finished with a season-high 24 points on 10-for-15 shooting from the field for Tulsa.
