Williams Adds to Resume

Waterloo, Iowa - For the second consecutive week, a shutout performance has propelled Waterloo Black Hawks veteran Jack Williams to United States Hockey League Goaltender of the Week honors, the USHL announced Tuesday.

Last Friday in Waterloo's home opener versus the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders, Williams turned aside 21 shots, backstopping the Hawks to a 3-0 victory. One week earlier in his season debut, the St. Louis, Missouri, native had made 15 saves against the Youngstown Phantoms in a 2-0 win. Those results give Williams two of the three shutouts recorded by goalies leaguewide so far in the young season.

Williams joined Cale Morris as the only Waterloo net-minders in the last decade with shutouts in back-to-back regular season games. Morris earned the achievement in March of 2016.

Friday's win boosted Williams above .500 during his USHL career when adding his record from last season as a Black Hawk, plus his 2019/20 mark when he was a member of the Muskegon Lumberjacks. The 20-year-old is now 17-16-4. His goals-against average is 3.20 in league games with a .894 save percentage.

The Hawks are on the road this weekend to visit the Tri-City Storm and the Des Moines Buccaneers.
