
Wilkes-Barre Sends Four Down

WHEELING, WV - The Wheeling Nailers announce that the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins have sent defensemen James Laux and Cliff Loya, and forwards Bo Cheesman and Sean Collins to Wheeling. As per club policy terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Laux, 25, is entering his third professional season and second with the Nailers. The 6'2" 210 pound native of Cherry Hill, New Jersey appeared in 56 games last year with the Nailers recording 10 goals, 12 assists, for 22 points with 31 penalty minutes. Before coming to Wheeling, Laux played 23 games with the Philadelphia Phantoms of the AHL.
Loya, 24, will be entering his third professional season, second with the Nailers. The 6'2" 190 pound native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania played in 66 games for the Nailers scoring two goals and four assists with 64 penalty minutes. Loya started his professional career with the San Diego Guls after playing four years at the University of Maine.
Cheesman, 24, will start his rookie season this year with the Nailers after getting a taste of professional hockey at the end of last year. The 6'2" 195 pound native of Peoria, Illinois played four years of college hockey at Lake Superior State University where he won the NCAA Humanitarian Award for his work in the community. In eight games for the Nailers last season Cheesman scored two goals and two assists with two penalty minutes. Playing for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins on Tuesday night he scored one goal and one assist, and was named the third star of the game.
Collins, 22, is entering his first professional season, after playing the last four years at the University of New Hampshire. The 5'9" 170 pound native of Reading, Massachusetts led the Wildcats in scoring his senior year with 56 points in 42 games, and was voted the Best Offensive Player by his teammates.
The Pittsburgh Penguins still have 35 players on their roster and Wilkes-Barre has 28 players in camp. There will be more roster movements leading up to the start of the Nailers training camp which starts October 7th.
