Wilderness Making Contributions to Charity

Over the past week, the Minnesota Wilderness made two donations to two great charities. During last Wednesday's game, the Wilderness accepted food donations for the Cloquet Salvation Army. Yesterday, the Wilderness were able to donate 202.2 pounds of food from that game.
On top of that, the Wilderness just finished their first ever Movember campaign, where they raised $1,680 for the Movember Foundation to help raise awareness and fight prostate, testicular, and mental health in men. This was the second highest amount of money raised by a team in the North American Hockey League. #26 Tyler Cline, an University of Alaska-Fairbanks commit, raised $645, the most money raised by an individual in the North American Hockey League.
Assistant General Manager Josh Petrich said, "For our boys to embrace this cause like they did and raise the amount of money they did, this is a very proud moment for the whole organization. When these players come here to play junior hockey, their first focus to improve as a hockey player and obtain a College scholarship. But through community service and fundraisers like this, they become valuable members of the community and grow as people as well. That is the true goal of a junior hockey program, because not every player will get that Division 1 scholarship they want. If they (the players) walk out a better person and a more well-rounded person, our program is doing our job then!"
The Wilderness will continue their community service efforts over the next two weeks, starting this Wednesday and Thursday, as well as next week, by ringing bells for the Salvation Army in Duluth around the Miller Hill Mall. They will also visit the Essentia Health-St. Mary's Childrens Hospital on Wednesday, December 10th from 10-11 AM. All media is welcome to attend.
This will be capped off by the Wilderness wearing 'Ugly Sweater' jerseys during their December 11th and 13th games versus the Kenai River Brown Bears at 7:05 PM. The games will be held at Northwoods Credit Union Arena in Cloquet and all jerseys will be auctioned off during Saturday nights game, with the net proceeds being donated to the Toyland Express of the Cloquet Salvation Army.
