Wichita Falls Wildcats News Release
WICHITA FALLS, Texas - Wichita Falls Wildcats forward Max Reisinger has been named to the Austrian national team to compete at the International Ice Hockey Federation Men's Under-20 Championships, it was announced Tuesday.
"It is really exciting to be able to represent your country," Reisinger said. "It's not something you get to do every day, so it is definitely something that I am very proud of."
Austria will compete in Division I, Group A of the 2015 IIHF Ice Hockey U20 World Championships, which is slated to run from Dec. 14 to 20 in Asiago, Italy. Austria will open its tournament schedule against Latvia on Dec. 14 at 12 p.m. Central Standard Time.
"We are very excited to see Max selected to the Austrian national team," Wildcats Head Coach John LaFontaine said. "It is a great honor to represent your country, and Max has worked hard to earn this opportunity. We're looking forward to watching him compete for Austria with everything he has, the same way he does for the Wildcats."
One of just four North American-based skaters selected by Austria, Reisinger has appeared in 19 games thus far in his second season with the Wildcats, posting seven goals and five assists in the process. Last year, he skated in 48 contests as a rookie, registering eight goals and six assists for 14 points.
Reisinger's selection to the Austrian U20 National Team marks the third-consecutive year a Wildcats player has been selected to represent their country in international competition. Last year, defenseman Kristaps Bazevics skated for Latvia at the 2014 U20 World Championships in Division I, Group A competition, while goaltender Evan Cowley was tabbed for the United States U18 for the Five Nations Tournament in February 2013.
While this is his first selection to the U20 squad, this will not be Reisinger's first time representing his country. The forward previously skated for Austria in the 2012 U18 World Championships, tallying a goal in four games played.
Reisinger and the Wildcats are in action this weekend when they host the Corpus Christi IceRays at the Kay Yeager Coliseum. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, with tickets available at the KYC box office. Fans that cannot make it to the game can follow all the action on FASTHockey.com, or by tuning into an audio-only broadcast available via YouTube.
Single-game tickets for the 2014-15 Wildcats season are on sale now at the Kay Yeager Coliseum box office. Stay updated on the latest team news and notes by connecting with the Wildcats on Facebook (WFWildcats), Twitter (@WFWildcats), Instagram (WFWildcats) and on YouTube (Wichita Falls Wildcats).
