Moncton Wildcats News Release
The stage is set for an unforgettable home opening weekend as the Wildcats return to the Avenir Centre this Saturday, October 4th, for their 2025-26 home opener against a provincial rival in the Saint John Sea Dogs.
Moncton (2-1-1-0) enters the home opener looking to continue their win streak-coming off back-to-back wins over the Eagles in Cape Breton. Goaltender Rudy Guimond was exceptional during the two wins. The CHL named Guimond the Protector of the Week after posting a .926 SV% and a 2.37 GAA during his first two starts.
Saint John (2-2-0-0) comes into the matchup fresh off a 5-2 victory over the Mooseheads, where first overall QMJHL draft pick Alexis Joseph led the way, scoring a hat trick. Joseph is a must-watch talent in this game; however, going up against the Wildcats' star goaltender, Guimond, will be a serious challenge for both Joseph and the Sea Dogs.
This will be the first chance for fans to welcome the team back since last spring's championship run, and with the banner set to go up in the rafters before puck drop, fans won't want to miss out.
The fun starts early against the Sea Dogs Saturday, with pre-game events outside:
Starting at 4:00pm, fans can enjoy the Party on the Oval presented by Atlantic Bakers, featuring live music from The Mainlanders until 6pm.
Family fun with bouncy castles, balloon animals, glitter tattoos, and face painting activities from Par-T-Perfect.
Inside the Avenir Centre, doors open at 5:30pm with special concession discounts - an extended 30 Minute Powerplay - available until 6:30pm. As we get set for puck drop, attention turns to the ice for a can't-miss banner-raising ceremony. Fans will be introduced to the 2025-26 Wildcats roster and watch as the 2025 Champions banner rises above the Gilles-Courteau Trophy and into the rafters - all capped with an unforgettable pyrotechnic show.
From there, the puck drops as Moncton faces off against long-time rival Saint John in their first home battle of the 2025-26 campaign. With what's expected to be a sold-out Avenir Centre filled with a crazy amount of energy, make sure to get your tickets now!
