Moncton Wildcats News Release
Moncton, NB- The Moncton Wildcats will be supporting another Hub City sports squad on Sunday night. The Cats will be the game sponsor for baseball's Moncton Mets when they take on the Chatham Ironmen in a 7 o'clock game at the Harold Page Field in Riverview.
The Mets are on a two game winning streak after defeating the Saint John Alpines 3-1 on Thursday night in Saint John.
The game promises to be a family fun night with a variety of Wildcats prizes being offered. One lucky fan will be awarded to game's grand prize, a pair of flex tickets for the Cats 2009-2010 season which begins at the Coliseum on Friday, September 18th against the PEI Rocket.
"We've enjoyed strong support from the Wildcats over the past 13 years," said the Mets Sales and Marketing Manager Ralph Chambers. "It's interesting to note the two teams brought championships to Moncton in 2006. The Mets won the Canadian Senior Men's Championship while the Wildcats captured the Quebec Major Junior title for the first time in the team's history in May and went to the final game of the Memorial Cup."
"The Wildcats are proud to be associated with community organizations such as the Mets," said GM Bill Schurman. "We look forward to having our fans support them at Sunday night's contest."
The Wildcats team bus will be at the ball park and will be available for tours during the game.
Entering their 14th season in the QMJHL, the Wildcats training camp will start August 18th at the Tim Hortons 4-Ice Centre. The Cats play their first pre-season exhibition game on the 21st against the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles at 7pm at the 4-Ice Plex. The first game of the 2009-2010 season for the Wildcats will be at the Charlottetown Civic Centre on September 11th. Home opening weekend will be on Friday, September 18th against the PEI Rocket, followed by a Sunday afternoon game at the Coliseum against Cape Breton.
