South Georgia Wildcats News Release
ALBANY, GA- The South Georgia Wildcats clinched a playoff berth with a win and the season series sweep of the Florida Firecats in Estero, Florida this past Saturday night by a final score of 47-40. The win moved the Wildcats to 9-4 on the season and 4-1 in the af2 National Conference South Division. It will be the first time since moving to Albany that the Wildcats will participate in post-season play.
"This season has been full of many big wins so far and we hope clinching a playoff berth is just another milestone on a championship journey," said General Manager Darren McPhail. "The Wildcats played like a team that can win a championship and while there is still some work to be done, the 'Cats have a very good chance of hosting their first ever playoff game at Cooper Tire Field."
McPhail also announced that Wildcat fans that renew or purchase 2008 season tickets prior to August 6th will also receive those same seats for free for the first home playoff game, and will receive a 2007 team autographed football while supplies last.
The Wildcats will host the Texas Copperheads (2-11) in the first of their final two home games of the 2007 season this Saturday night at the Albany Civic Center. The doors will open at 6:00, and the kickoff is set for 7:30. Tickets are still available by contacting the Civic Center Box Office at 229-435-2849. The Wildcats will host the Alabama Steeldogs July 21 in their final home game and final division match-up of the regular season.
