The Moncton Wildcats have left another mark in the history books this past weekend. This season has already seen the Wildcats break a franchise record for best start to a season. Now, on a franchise level the Wildcats have beaten their record for most consecutive road wins. The old record was set in 1999-2000 at seven games. The win against Cape Breton Friday night tied the record and the win against Saint John Sunday afternoon broke it.

The Wildcats tied two QMJHL records this past weekend. The first is a record set in 1972-73 by the Quebec Remparts for most consecutive games at the start of a season earning a point. The Wildcats can break this record with a win Thursday night against the PEI Rocket. An over-time loss would also break this record. The second QMJHL record the Wildcats tied this weekend is with the 1976-77 Cornwall Royals for most consecutive road wins at the start of the season. The Wildcats look to break this record on November 8th as they travel to Halifax.

This week the Wildcats host PEI on Thursday and then Halifax Saturday. The Wildcats are 2-0 with PEI and yet to face Halifax this season. Matt Eagles, Ted Stephens and Scott Brannon lead the Wildcats in scoring with 23, 15 and 14 points respectively so far this year.

Wednesday October 22nd vs Chicoutimi Moncton Coliseum 7:00PM GAME NOTES:

Cats snag Sags Caulk up another win for the Moncton Wildcats. The league leading Cats downed the Chicoutimi Sagueneens 4-2 on Wednesday night and stretched their unbeaten streak to five games.

Matt Eagles scored his 8th of the season from Randy Cameron at 1:18 of the first. Brandon Gormley added a power-play marker at 6:05 with Cameron and Eagles assisting.

With the Wildcats short-handed the Sags hit the score sheet at 11:01 when Sebestien Rioux scored from Jacob Legace and Joel Champagne. Moncton rounded out the first period scoring with Sasha Famin getting his 4th of the season from Cameron and Mark Barberio, it was the second power-play goal for the Cats.

Famin scored the only goal of the middle frame from Simon Jodoin and David Savard. The Wildcats carried a 4-1 margin into the final frame. The Sagueneens got the lone goal of the third at 12:29 with Olivier Ouellet scoring from Roussel and rookie Mathieu Populus.

The shots on goal favored the Wildcats 40-25, while the Sags went 1 for 7 on the power play, Moncton was 2 for 11.

The games three stars were Jacob Legace of Chicoutimi the third star, Sasha Famin of Moncton with a pair of goals, was ssecond and Randy Cameron with a trio of assists got the first star.

Friday October 24th vs Cape Breton Centre 200 7:00PM GAME NOTES:

Wildcats shut-out Screaming Eagles The Moncton Wildcats sent a message Friday night to the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles. Nicola Riopel stopped 31 shots to add another shut-out to his resume.

Moncton made 6 of the 30 shots on both of the Cape Breton goalies, Roy for 40 minutes and Holden for 20 minutes.

Ted Stephens started the night off with a goal at 3:05 from Lahey and MacAusland. Matt Eagles added another at 19:39 from Gormley and Barberio on a power play.

Matthew Bissonnette netted another power play goal at 1:31 of the second from Stephens and Petterson. Sasha Famin netted the second of the second at 17:54 from Eagles.

Brandon Gormley made an unassisted goal at 5:06 of the third. Famin ended the scoring for the night at 8:46 assisted by MacAusland.

For the second time this season the three stars all were from Moncton. Nicola Riopel, Sasha Famin and Simon Jodoin.

Sunday October 26th vs Saint John Harbour Station 4:00PM GAME NOTES:

Wildcats 5 Saint John 1

The Wildcats were the first to score at 18:13 of the first. Brandon Gormley and Matt Eagles set Randy Cameron up on the power play for his third of the season.

In the second Moncton pulled ahead further with a goal from Sasha Famin at 14:16 to make it 2-0. Barberio and Pettersson picked up assists. Saint John brought the game within one at 18:59 on an unassited goal by Alex Grant.

Matt Lahey brought back the two goal cushion at 2:01 of the third assisted by Bissionette and MacAusland. Daniel Pettersson added to Moncton's lead at 3:44 of the third. Jodoin and Savard added the assists. At 8:35 Matt Brown beat Mayer to make it 5-1.

The Sea Dogs out shot the Wildcats 36 to 29. The three stars of the game were Moncton's Daniel Pettersson and Simon Jodoin and Saint John's Steven Anthony.

The Moncton Wildcats have now tied the QMHJL record for their winning steak on the road.

Thursday October 30th vs PEI Moncton Coliseum 7:00PM GAME NOTES:

The Moncton Wildcats will battle against the PEI Rocket Thursday. The Rocket are 5th in the Atlantic Division with 15 points. Chris Doyle leads the Rocket with 7 goals, 15 assists and 22 points in 115 games so far this season.

Saturday November 1st vs Halifax Moncton Coliseum 7:00PM GAME NOTES:

The Moncton Wildcats will take on the Halifax Mooseheads Saturday. The Mooseheads are 6th in the Atlantic Division with 10 points. Justin Pender leads the Mooseheads with 7 goals, 7 assists and 11 points in 16 games so far this season.
