Wildcats Open Training Camp Monday, March 13

ALBANY, GA- The South Georgia Wildcats will kickoff their quest for the ArenaCup on Monday, March 13 with the opening of training camp at Albany State University.

Wildcats head coach Donnie Davis enters his second season with the Wildcats. Last season, Davis coached the Wildcats in their final six games of the season. Assistant head coach Ron Hill will enter his first season with the Wildcats. Hill will bring 21 years of coaching experience to the coaching staff. Defensive Coordinator Adrian Jones will also join the ‘Cats coaching staff along with offensive/defensive line coach John Coleman.

Davis will bring a roster of 35 players into camp. Among the veterans are offensive specialist Antwone Savage, had over 1,000 receiving yards and recorded 22 touchdowns in 2005, WR/LB Chris McKinney, totaled 17 touchdowns and led the team in tackles with 42 and DS Elliott Burkes, had 37.5 tackles and two interceptions in 11 games with the Wildcats.

Among the newcomers entering Wildcats training camp are quarterback Dondrial Pinkins, who threw for over 3,500 yards during his career at the University of South Carolina, WR/DB Ron Monteilh, who recorded over 500 receiving yards at Colorado University and Albany State University standout Alvin Jackson, who compiled over 1,200 receiving yards and 13 touchdowns.

Teams are permitted to bring 35 players into training camp. Teams will be required to cut their roster down to 30 players on March 15 and the final cut (22 players) will be March 27.

The Arena Football League is entering its 20th season and the South Georgia Wildcats are entering their second season in Albany, GA. The Wildcats will kickoff the 2006 season against Tennessee Valley Vipers on Saturday, April 8th at the Albany Civic Center.
