Florida Firecats News Release

Estero, FL- The Florida Firecats have rescheduled the start of their training camp from Wednesday March 15th to Wednesday March 22nd.

"We have a few scheduling issues in relation to the date we planed to start camp, so to just make things move a little smoother we want to delay things a week," said Coach Kevin Bouis.

The af2 regular season kicks off Thursday March 30th with 14 of the leagues 23 teams in action. The Firecats have a bye in week 1 and want to carry camp right up to the start of their season in Week 2.

"Looking at the schedule we decided it would be better for our players to push camp back a week, instead of having a full week off after our final cut down day we have tightened a few things up a bit. We want to keep the intensity of camp rolling right into the first game to get a good start to the season."

Players will now report to camp Wednesday March 22nd. The players will complete league paperwork, go through team physicals and check into their hotel rooms before concluding the 1st day with a team meeting. The players will then jump right into the action with two-a-days beginning Thursday March 23rd.

The Firecats expect to bring 35 players into camp but will have to cut the roster down to 24 by their 1st game.

The Florida Firecats open the 2006 season Saturday April 8th on the road against the defending Champion Memphis Xplorers. The Firecats will host the Xplorers Saturday April 22nd at Germain Arena for their home opener.

Single game tickets go on sale Wednesday March 15th. Call 390-CATS (2287) to reserve your seats.

Season ticket packages are still available beginning at just $108 for all 8 home games.
