Manchester Wolves News Release
The Manchester Wolves, New Hampshire's arenafootball2 team, and the Simon Kidgits Club will team up this weekend for the Simon Kidgits Club Book Blast Event. The Book Blast will be held Saturday, March 11, from 11-1pm at the Four Seasons Court located within the Pheasant Lane Mall in Nashua, N.H. (310 Daniel Webster Highway).
Wolves players Lamar "Turtle" Bryant and David Bailey, as well as everyone's fan-favorite mascot, Blitz, will read selections from the "Bernstein Bears," "Miss Spider," Max and Ruby" and "Biscuit" series to children on hand. Bryant, Bailey and Blitz will also sign autographs for fans after the reading session. They will join members of the Lowell Lock Monsters American Hockey League team, the New Hampshire and Massachusetts Teenage Scholarship pageant winners and the Tyngsboro (Mass.) Police Department D.A.R.E. officer in celebrating the joys of reading.
Fans that bring their favorite new or slightly used books to donate to Marguerite's Place, a local non-profit organization, are eligible for drawings to win free books and other great prizes. Borders Express will also be on hand with a display of books being read at the event, some of which will be available to purchase at their store.
"This will be a fun event for all ages," said Wolves General Manager Angelo Mazzella. "Our players really enjoy going into the community and being positive role models for kids."
The Wolves 2006 season officially starts for players on March 15, as they'll be reporting for training camp at Bedford's Rising Stars in preparation to defend their 2005 East Division Championship title. The Wolves open their regular season Friday, April 7, at 7:30pm on Brady Sullivan Field, against the Green Bay Blizzard at the Verizon Wireless Arena.
