Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Pioneers News Release
Wilkes-Barre, PA- The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Pioneers are pleased to announce that the organization will be re-signing their medical contract to continue their partnership with Geisinger Health System for the team's upcoming fifth anniversary season.
"It is indeed an honor to have this professional relationship with the premiere medical provider in northeast Pennsylvania," said Dave Berryman, Pioneers President/General Manager. "Geisinger to me is a one stop medical facility providing all the necessary medical components in professional sports today."
As the official Medical and Sports Medicine Provider for the Wilkes-Barre Scranton Pioneers, Geisinger will provide a team of sports medicine physicians, surgeons, athletic trainers and healthcare professionals for prevention, diagnosis and treatment of the Pioneer's sports injuries. Geisinger will also provide other services including MRI/CT Scans, surgery and rehabilitation.
The Pioneers will be holding their pre-season physicals at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Building on Sunday, March 12th. The physicals will start at 12:00 p.m. and run until approximately 2:00 p.m. on the first floor VMB Conference Room. Doctors and coaches will be available for interview with media professionals only.
"Geisinger is, again, proud to provide the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Pioneers with their pre-season physicals and medical services for the season," said Geisinger Sport Medicine Team Orthopedist, William Krywicki, MD. "Physicals are an important way to identify any pre-existing conditions a player may have, which can lead to injury. Therefore, we are able to address the specific condition and help prevent reoccurring episodes of injury."
