Wildcats fall short in match against the Tigres

The Moncton Wildcats fall short after an open net goal from the Tigres will 11 seconds to go in 3rd period tonight at the Colisee Desjardins in Victoriaville, Quebec. The last time these two teams met Moncton took the game 6-3 on October 15, 2010 in Moncton.

Philippe Maillet, of Victoriaville scored his first of two on a quick goal on Shane Owen with 16 seconds in to the first period on a pass from rightwinger Brandon Hynes. 2,499 fans were on hand for this Friday night match at the Colisee Desjardins. Daniel Milan and Devond MacAusland scored two for Moncton, while Philippe Maillet, and Philip-Michael Devos (with two goals) countered for Victoriaville.

Dan Milan tied the score at 1 with an assist from Alex Saulnier and Daniel Pettersson at the halfway mark of the first period. The second period was riddled with penalties, where Moncton was assessed four and Victoriaville one.

The score of 1-1 remained as is until 5 minutes and 59 seconds into the 3rd period when Philippe Maillet of Victoriaville put his 2nd of the night past Shane Owen on an assist from Guillaume Goulet. With 10:58 gone in the 3rd period Philip-Michael Devos put another shot past Shane Owen on an assist from Yannick Dube and Etienne St-Germain. Devon MacAusland scored a comeback goal at the 13:48 minute mark on a nice pass from Daniel Milan. With Shane Owen out of the net and 6-men rushing, it wasn't quite enough to take the game as Philip-Michael Devos scored an empty net goal with 11 seconds remaining in the 3rd period.

Tune in to Rogers News 91.9 tomorrow night for more action as the Moncton Wildcats battle the Drummondville Voltigeurs at 5:00pm AST. This will be game 2-of- 2 as the Wildcats continue their roadtrip through Quebec.
