Moncton Wildcats News Release
The Saint John Sea Dogs broke a 5-5 tie with 29 seconds remaining in the third period on their way to a 6-5 victory over the Wildcats, Sunday at TD Station.
Jacob Hudson led the Moncton offence with a goal and three assists while Francis Langlois, Owen Stammer Mathis Cloutier and Tristan De Jong also found the net. Philippe Daoust contributed two assists.
The Wildcats opened the scoring seven-and-a-half minutes into the game with a 5-on-3 power play goal from Langlois, who took a pass in front of the crease from Hudson and tapped it between the legs of Saint John goalie Noah Patenaude.
Stammer made it 2-0 with eight minutes left in the period, ripping a wrist shot from the slot past Patenaude's glove.
It became a 3-0 game just 21 seconds later when Cloutier buried the rebound after an initial chance from Gabriel Bernier was denied.
Moncton led 3-0 after twenty minutes.
The Sea Dogs got back in the game with a power play goal 35 seconds into the second period and scored again two minutes later to cut the Wildcats' lead down to 3-2.
The home side tied the score with more than six minutes remaining in the frame.
It was 3-3 after two periods.
Hudson gave Moncton the lead back three minutes into the third period when his low shot from the right circle snuck inside the right post.
The Sea Dogs tied the game again four minutes after that.
DeJong put the Wildcats in front 5-4 with another 5-on-3 power play goal, a heavy slap shot from the slot.
But Saint John countered ninety seconds later.
The winner in the final minute came on a long shot from the left point that was deflected inside the right post.
