Wildcats Announce Marc Champagne as New Goaltending Consultant

The Moncton Wildcats have announced the hiring of Marc Champagne as the team's new goaltending consultant. Champagne replaces Frantz Jean who was hired by the Tampa Bay Lighting of the National Hockey League earlier this month. Moncton Wildcats Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Danny Flynn had the following to say regarding Marc's duties with the Cats. "Marc is Montreal based and will spend a minimum of seven days a month in Moncton working with our goalies. He will also join us on trips through Quebec, and do pre-game scouting of opposition goaltenders. Marc will also be evaluating goaltending prospects for the upcoming 2011 QMJHL Entry Draft."
Champagne has quite the track record, from 2004-06 he was the goaltending coach for the Lewiston Maineiacs working to develop St. Louis Blues goaltender Jaroslav Halak and former LA Kings first round draft pick Jonathan Bernier. From 2006-08 Marc was the goaltending coach for the Acadie-Bathurst Titan working with goalies Nicolas Champagne and Antoine Tardiff.
Flynn had this to say about Champagne's experience and what he hopes he can bring to the Wildcat Organization. "Marc has worked hand in hand with our former goaltending coach Franz-Jean for a number of years. We hope there will be a carry over effect from what Frantz has built here."
Champagne is expected to be in Moncton Sunday for his first stint with the Wildcats.
The Wildcats also announced that they have reassigned left winger Matt Tomah, 18 to the Woodstock Slammers of the Maritime Junior A Hockey League.
