
Wild Things Lose Home Opener to the Ohio Valley Red Coats

Washington, PA â The Washington Wild Things, presented by Washington Federal Savings Bank, lost their home opener to the Ohio Valley Red Coats 10-3 Wednesday at Falconi Field in front of a sell-out crowd of 3,207.
This is the third of four season openers the Wild Things have dropped in their four year history. The Washington team lost their season openers in years one, two and four. But in each of the first three years, the Washington team has gone on to lead the league in season wins.
The Wild Things' B.J. Borsa takes the loss (0-1) allowing four runs, nine hits, and three walks.
Ryan Childs (1-0), takes the victory, pitching 5.1 innings, allowing seven hits, three runs and two walks for the Red Coats.
Outfielder, Jaziel Mendoza went four for four had four RBI and scored two home runs for Ohio Valley. Third baseman Travis Garcia went four for five with two RBI.
The victory is manager Mark Mason's (former pitching coach for the Wild Things) first as he debuted his managing career in his former home of Falconi Field.
The Wild Things face the Red Coats for the second of a three game series Thursday. First pitch for the game to be broadcast on WJPA 95.3 FM is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
