Opening Day at McBride Stadium

Richmond Roosters News Release


The Richmond Roosters open the 2005 season against the Florence Freedom on May 25. Opening Night is "Baseball Card Strip Night" presented by Logos Imaging. The first 1,000 fans entering McBride stadium get a full color card strip that features four members of the 2005 Richmond Rooster Baseball Team. Field Manager Chris Mongiardo, player/coach Matt Schweitzer, infielder Blake Woods, and 2004 Frontier League Rookie of the Year Kevin White are the featured cards. The strip will be the first of six available on Wednesday night games. Collect all 24 cards! All the action starts at 6:35 PM with gates open at 5:30 PM.

The following morning is a 10:05 AM starts (gates open at 9:00 AM) as the Roosters present Baseball In Education Day. Its Mascot Mania as Rowdy gets to host his large furry pals from all over the area. Over 2,500 students from area schools will be attending the game. They will have a chance to learn about baseball and interact with the many mascots. Subway, Texas Roadhouse, Fazoli's, Richmond Sanitary District, Ryan's Steakhouse, and others will have mascots at the game. They will be participating in events planned throughout the day on and off the field.

On Friday, the Richmond Roosters will host their final home game before heading out on a 15 game, 17 day road trip. Start your Memorial Day weekend with a bang at McBride Stadium as the we host the Roosters Run Car Show kick off with a 50's night that includes Elvis and a fabulous fireworks show. Its also Winchester/Randolph County Chamber Night, so don't miss the fun.
