Washington Wild Things News Release
WASHINGTON, Pa. - Schaumburg scored a late run in the ninth inning to take the series opener at Wild Things Park, 3-2, as the teams opened the final regular-season series of 2024.
Washington jumped out to an early lead. Andrew Czech hit a book-rule double to right center to start the scoring in the first inning plating Tyreque Reed, who had walked. In the second, Brandon McIlwain launched a solo shot to left to make it 2-0.
Dariel Fregio was great in his start through six and in all went seven innings for his 10th quality start in his last 11 outings. He allowed a two-run homer to Anthony Calarco in the seventh inning that tied the game and forced Fregio to a no decision. He fanned six and walked one while he surrendered just four hits.
