Washington, PA - The Washington Wild Things (18-9), presented by Washington Federal Savings Bank, were defeated by the Evansville Otters (18-9) on Tuesday, by a score of 3-2 in the longest game of the Washington club's history â 17 innings in front of a crowd of 3,609.
Washington scored early in the first inning with Josh Loggins' solo homerun. Loggins leads the team in homeruns with nine this season.
Evansville answered back in the fourth inning with two solo homeruns hit by Juan Downing and David Trujillo to left field, making the score 2-1.
Jay Coakley hit a solo homerun to left field in the eighth inning to tie the score at two all.
The winning run was scored in the 17th inning by Carlos Brackley after Denver Stuckey hit a single to left field, which allowed Brackley to score from third base.
The Wild Things play Evansville again Wednesday at 7:05 p.m. at Falconi Field. Wednesday's game will be broadcast on Fox Sports Net Pittsburgh and Pirate Legend, Manny Sanguillen, will be on hand to sign autographs.
