The Kalamazoo Kings hosted the Chillicothe Paints at Homer Stryker Field on Tuesday night, serving a crowd of 2,397 people. With a victory belonging to the Kings, Matt Sheets threw 9 scoreless innings, along with 6 hits to go along with 8 strike outs, to get his first win of the season, with an overall score of 5-0.
In the first inning, Matt Kent earned his 12th RBI of the season, allowing Brian Ferreira to score the first run of the game, making the score 1-0. Steve Hindman singled in the second inning, while Tino Burgos popped out to third, allowing for Hindman to score the second run of the game. The score is now in favor of the Kings, 2-0. Matt Kent earned his 13th RBI of the game, allowing for Daryl Blaze to score the third run of the game, with Chris Carter sliding into home directly behind Blaze. The score at the bottom of the 5th inning is 4-0. With bases loaded, Walt Simmons scored his 13th RBI of the season during the 7th inning, after being hit by a pitch, allowing for Ferreira to score a run, topping out the score to 5-0.
The Kalamazoo Kings will take on the Chillicothe Paints Wednesday night at 6:35 p.m. Homer Stryker Field will host a college night on Wednesday, where all students with a valid college i.d. will get into the park for $2.
