Washington Wild Things News Release

WASHINGTON, Pa. - The Washington Wild Things, presented by Washington Federal Savings Bank, struggled to hit and lost to the Evansville Otters, 5-0.

Evansville's starting pitcher, Grant Williams (2-0), pitched a complete-game shutout, giving up two hits, while striking out seven and walking four.

Evansville (6-4) scored their first run in the second when Jonathon Ramirez walked with the bases loaded, scoring Brett McCutchan.

The Otters broke the game open in the fourth when Sean Flynn crushed a two-run home run over the centerfield wall. Later in the inning, Denver Stuckey drove in Ramirez on a two-out single.

Evansville would add another run in the seventh when Cole Hilt scored on McCutchan's single.

But the story was Williams' shutout. Williams breezed through the Wild Things' lineup, giving up only one hit after the first inning and allowing only two base runners to reach scoring position.

Washington's (5-7) starting pitcher Grant Dorn (1-1) pitched six innings, giving up four runs on eights hits. Dorn struck out nine while walking two.

Wild Things shortstop, Jon Cahill, went 0-3, snapping his eight-game hitting streak.

The Wild Things remain at home for a three-game series against the Florence Freedom. Tickets can be purchased at the ticket office or online at www.washingtonwildthings.com.
