Wenatchee Wild News Release
Wenatchee, WA. - The Wenatchee Wild got single goals in the first and third periods Saturday night, plus some solid goaltending and translated that into a second straight win over the Fairbanks Ice Dogs 2-1, before 3,422 fans at the Town Toyota Center in Wenatchee.
The Wild grabbed the lead as Trey Bradley (Tampa, Florida) tapped home a feed off the right wing from Troy Loggins (Huntington Beach, California) on a 2-on-1 break from the blue line in. The goal, scored at 13:30, put Wenatchee up 1-0.
In the second period, there was plenty of action at both ends of the ice but no scoring, as the Wild maintained their 1-0 lead through 40 minutes.
The lead grew to 2-0 in Wenatchee's favor in the third period, as Gadel Gumerov (Nizhnekamsk, Russia) tipped home a River Rymsha (Huntington Woods, Michigan) one-timer from the left point at 12:46. However, Fairbanks got that goal back, with Tayler Munson scoring from Colton Wolter and Ben Campbell at 15:25, bringing the Ice Dogs back to within 1, at 2-1. Fairbanks pulled their goaltender for an extra attacker but was unable to get the tying goal, as the Wild held on for the 2-1 win. "Our goaltender gave us a chance" said Wenatchee Wild Head Coach Bliss Littler. "The first 10 minutes of the first period and probably the first 10 of the second, Fairbanks came really hard and our goaltender kept us in it. I thought the last 10 of the first we got better and in the last half of the game I thought we started making some plays and got up and down the ice. Very proud of the effort we had. I look at Fairbanks as one of the best teams in the league so for us it was an outstanding weekend for our team."
The Ice Dogs outshot Wenatchee 29-27. Gustaf Johansson (Uppsala, Sweden) made 28 saves for the Wild; Kevin Aldridge had 25 saves for Fairbanks. Wenatchee was 0-for-3 on the power play and 4-of-4 on the penalty kill.
The Wild is now 7-8-2, Fairbanks is 10-7-0.
The Michigan Warriors visit the Town Toyota Center for two games on Friday and Saturday, November 8th and 9th, with face off both nights at 7:05pm PST. Individual and group game tickets for all home games are on sale now. Call 509.888.PUCK (7825).
