Wild Recalls Amond, Reassigns Earl To Houston

HOUSTON - Minnesota Wild General Manager Chuck Fletcher today announced the National Hockey League (NHL) club has recalled left wing Cody Almond from the Houston Aeros of the American Hockey League (AHL). The Wild has also reassigned left wing Robbie Earl to the Aeros.

Almond, 20 (7/24/89), has recorded 15 points (6-9=15) and 43 penalty minutes (PIM) in 33 games with the Aeros in this, his rookie season. Almond has 10 points (4-6=10) in his last nine games with Houston. The 6-foot-2, 215-pound native of Calgary, Alberta, was Minnesota's fifth-round pick (No. 140 overall) in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft. Almond helped lead the Kelowna Rockets to the 2009 Western Hockey League (WHL) championship, tying for second on the team with 33 goals. Almond, recalled to the NHL for the first time, will wear No. 23 with the Wild.

Earl, 24 (6/2/85), has posted five points (5-0=5) in 22 games over three separate recalls with the Wild this season. He scored his first two career NHL goals Nov. 15 in Carolina after making his Wild debut Nov. 13 at Washington. Earl has tallied 12 points (6-6=12) in 25 games with the Aeros. The 5-foot-11, 197-pound native of Chicago, Ill. recorded nine points (4-5=9) in 33 regular season games last season with Houston and added nine points (5-4=9) in 20 playoff contests after being acquired from Toronto in exchange for Ryan Hamilton on Jan. 21, 2009.

Houston begins its "three-in-three" stretch tomorrow night vs. the Griffins, 7:35 p.m. from Toyota Center.
