Manitoba Moose News Release

The Manitoba Moose are pleased to announce that a pair of their AHL Off-Ice Officials will be heading to the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, Canada to officiate both men's and women's hockey.

Robert MacLean has been an AHL Off-Ice Official with the Moose since 2002, working various positions. For the past three seasons, he has worked as a goal judge and penalty box attendant. MacLean will work as a Time On Ice Program Operator at the 2010 Winter Olympic Games. He will be resposible for tracking the length of every shift, of every player, on his assigned teams. He will operate the computer and input the data, with a partner as a spotter.

Gerald Andrews has been part of the off-ice officiating crew working the Moose games for the past four seasons. Yet, for the next two weeks, Andrews will be working on one of the three crews assigned to the ice hockey games at the 2010 Winter Olympic Games. His job will be gathering statistics on face-offs taken during the games - including where they take place, the players involved, and the outcome. His schedule will see him work eight men's hockey games and seven women's games, including the opening game for the Canadian women's team on February 13th as well as the round-robin men's game between Canada and the United States on Feb. 21st.

In both situations, the crew for the Medal Games have yet to be assigned and will be done so by merit. We wish both Robert MacLean and Gerald Andrews the best of luck in Vancouver and hope they make it to the Gold Medal Games!
