Boise Hawks News Release

The Boise Hawks (25-26) beat the Everett AquaSox (27-24) by a final score of 7-6 in 10 innings. LJ Hatch tied it up with two outs in the 9th inning on an RBI-triple and it was a two-RBI double for Kennard McDowell in the 10th to give the Hawks the lead for good.

Boise got the first run of the game in the 2nd inning. With LeeMarcus Boyd at the plate, and LJ Hatch on 2nd after he walked and was moved to 2nd base on a groundout, Boyd delivered his 4th RBI of the season with a double into left-centerfield and the Hawks took a 1-0 advantage. Boyd finishes with a 3-5 game, two runs-scored and an RBI.

In the 3rd inning, Boise tacked on another run. After Kennard McDowell led the inning off with a double, Danny Edgeworth delivered a sacrifice fly to make it a 2-0 lead for the Hawks.

On the mound, Boise starter Nick Bush was able to sling five innings of shutout baseball and get some great plays from his defense including a diving play by Edgeworth at first-base in the 3rd inning to save a couple runs.

The Hawks put another run on the board in the 6th. LeeMarcus Boyd hit into a fielders choice and after an error on the pickoff move by Everett pitcher Penn Murfee on the throw to first-base, it allowed Boyd to get to third-base. Cade Harris came up and delivered an RBI single making it 3-0 Hawks.

Everett got their first run in the bottom of the 6th when Matt Sanders had a sacrifice fly and it made the score 3-1 Boise. Boise responded right back in the 7th inning when Luke Morgan stole third-base and the ball got into left field allowing Morgan to trot home. The Hawks led it at 4-1.

Morgan gets his 2nd four-hit game of the series going 4-6 with two-runs scored.

But Everett had their big inning in the 7th. It was four runs, headlined by a two-RBI double for Cal Raleigh making it 5-4 Everett.

The Hawks went into the 9th trailing 5-4. With two outs, and Luke Morgan on first-base, Hatch hit his first triple of the year down the right field line to tie the game up at five.

Peyton Gray threw the 9th inning for Boise and after allowing a leadoff double, he was able to work his way out of it and the game was tied at five.

In the 10th inning the Hawks started with Greg Jones on second base. The Hawks loaded the bases up, and it was McDowell with a two-RBI single to give the Hawks a 7-5 advantage.

PJ Poulin allowed a run in the 10th, although unearned, and the Hawks got a 7-6 victory. It was Poulin's 6th save of the year.

Boise will have the next three days off for the All-Star break. The Hawks will return home after the All-Star break on August 9th for "Thirsty Thursday" against the Spokane Indians. First pitch will be at 7:15 MT. Get your tickets at BoiseHawks.com or call 208-322-5000.
