
Wild 'Cats Lose 6-5

Kinston, NC - The Hillcats walked seven batters Wednesday night and in four of the five innings that saw an Indian batter draw a free pass, Kinston scored at least one run.
For the fourth night in a row the Hillcats got on the board in the first inning. Todd Cunningham doubled down the third baseline to lead things off. He then stole third base, for his third stolen base of the series, and scored on an RBI single by Andrelton Simmons.
Kinston tied up the game in the bottom of the first. Adam Abraham singled in Casey Frawley and the back and forth contest had begun.
The Hillcats regained the lead in the top of the fifth, when Cunningham scored on a wild pitch.
The lead would change hands three times in the next three innings.
Abraham hit his fourth home run of the season in the bottom of the sixth. It was a two-run shot that put Kinston up 3-2. Lynchburg came back with two more in the top of the seventh. Joey Terdoslavich doubled with two on and two out, scoring L.V. Ware and Cunningham.
Down 4-3, the Indians refused to go quietly. In the bottom of the eighth, Bo Greenwell and Abraham hit back-to-back RBI doubles and Kinston was back on top 5-4.
Jose Flores entered the game in the ninth for Kinston looking for his second save of the season. Ware led off the ninth with a single to right field. He advance to second on a wild pitch, moved to third on a groundout to second base, and finally scored on a sacrifice fly tying the game at 5-5.
Lynchburg sent out their fourth pitcher in Eliecer Cardenas in the bottom of the ninth. He struck out his first batter. The next three reached via a single, a walk, and another single to load the bases with one out. Frawley, 0-for-2 with two walks, came to the plate with the bases loaded and the winning run at third base. Cardenas walked Frawley on five pitches, and the Indians had a walk-off walk, winning 6-5.
Flores (1-3) blew the save but earned his first win as Kinston walked off in the bottom of the ninth. Cardenas (0-1) suffered the loss, pitching just a third of an inning, allowing one run on two hits and two walks.
The Hillcats are now 14-23 after the loss. The Indians improved to 16-22 and now lead the series 2-1 heading into game four, tomorrow night.
