Bowling Green Hot Rods News Release
Winston-Salem, North Carolina- Patrick Wicklander struck out eight in the Bowling Green Hot Rods (24-15, 65-39) 4-2 loss to the Winston-Salem Dash (18-22, 51-55), despite a late rally on Friday night. The Hot Rods and Dash continue their series on Saturday with a 5:00 PM CT first pitch at Truist Stadium in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
The Dash scored the game's first run in the bottom of the first before the Hot Rods tied the game in the second against Winston-Salem starter Cristian Mena. Logan Driscoll led off the frame with a double to right and scored when Johan Lopez singled to right, making it a 1-1 game.
Winston-Salem took the lead back in the bottom of the second and never looked back. They held the Hot Rods hitless until the ninth inning, with BG scoring to make it a two-run affair. The comeback fell short, though, with a double play ending the game with a 4-2 score and evening the series at two games each.
Austin Vernon (0-2) took the loss, allowing two runs on three hits over 2.0 innings with three walks and two strikeouts. Patrick Wicklander allowed two runs (one earned) on four hits over 5.0 innings, with eight strikeouts. Conor Dryer pitched the eighth, striking out one.
Notes: Driscoll has a three-game hit streak... He logged his 10th multi-hit game of the season... Lopez's fifth multi-RBI game of the year... Hernandez has a five-game hitting streak... BG is 22-24 in games decided by two runs or less this season... The Hot Rods are 18-24 when their opponent scores first... Wicklander's 5.0 innings of work is the second-longest relief outing of his career...
The Hot Rods and Dash continue their series on Saturday with a 5:00 PM CT first pitch... Bowling Green will send RH Logan Workman (4-3, 3.84) to the mound against Winston-Salem LH Tommy Sommer (1-1, 3.68)...
