WAPPINGERS FALLS, N.Y. - The Hudson Valley Renegades were blanked by the Aberdeen IronBirds 10-0 on Friday night at Dutchess Stadium.
Aberdeen plated two in the top of the third against Hudson Valley starter Josue Panacual. Heston Kjerstad drilled an RBI triple and scored on a throwing error to give the IronBirds a 2-0 lead.
In the top of the fourth, Davis Tavarez grounded into a fielder's choice, scoring Billy Cook from third to extend the lead to 3-0. Cook blasted a two-run homer in the following frame to open up a 5-0 edge.
Jhonatan Muñoz entered in the top of the sixth and was greeted with a Darrell Hernaiz two-run triple and a Collin Burns RBI double to lengthen the lead to 8-0.
The first seven runs (six earned) were charged to Panacual (2-5), who lasted 5.1 innings, allowing six hits, walking three and striking out six.
Cade Povich (2-0) shined for the IronBirds, tossing six shutout innings, surrendering only three hits, walking two and striking out seven.
Aberdeen tacked on two in the top of the eighth against Kevin Milam. With the bases loaded, Kjerstad walked and T.T. Bowens singled to create a 10-0 cushion.
Jean Pinto fired three scoreless innings in relief to earn his second save.
Jasson Domínguez singled and walked twice, reaching base three times, in the loss. In 19 games with the Renegades, The Martian has walked 14 times, producing a .410 on-base percentage.
Hudson Valley continues its six-game series with the Aberdeen IronBirds on Saturday night at Dutchess Stadium. RHP Richard Fitts (3-8, 5.28 - Low-A Tampa) makes his Renegades debut, while the IronBirds tab RHP Peter Van Loon (9-2, 3.51).
