Wilmington, DE - The Wilmington Blue Rocks defeated the Brooklyn Cyclones by the score of 7-1 on Friday evening. RHP Junior Santos (6-11) allowed five runs on a career-high 10 hits over 5.2 innings and was tagged with the loss.
Brooklyn took a 1-0 lead in the top of the third when William Lugo had a two-out double and came around to score courtesy of an Alex Ramirez RBI single.
But in the bottom the frame, Wilmington exploded for three runs - all with two outs - to take a 3-1 edge after three innings.
The lead would grow in the bottom of the sixth when Yasel Antuna connected on a two-run blast to extend their lead to 5-1. Robert Hassell added an RBI single in the seventh which was followed by a sac fly from Antuna to round out the scoring in Wilmington's win.
Brooklyn tried to mount a late inning rally - loading the bases in the top of the ninth - but Matt O'Neill struck out and Shervyen Newton popped out to end the game.
Brooklyn will look to rebound on Saturday evening when Christian Scott will make his Cyclones debut as the starting pitcher for the 6:35 PM affair.
