Sioux City-----The Wichita Wingnuts won their 12th straight game Tuesday night with a 12-5 victory over the Explorers at Lewis and Clark Park. It was the eighth straight loss for the Explorers.

Wichita took a 2-0 lead in the first inning on a two-out, two-run home run by C.J. Ziegler. It was Ziegler's league leading 18th home run of the season.

The Wingnuts followed that up with a three-run second inning to stretch the lead to 5-0 off losing pitcher Andy Noga. Wichita added a single run in the fourth inning to make it a 6-0 lead before the Explorers started a comeback.

In the fifth inning, Adrian Martinez connected on a two-run home run that cut the Wichita lead in half at 6-3.

However, Wichita would put the game away with four runs in the top of the sixth inning and went on to win 12-5.

On a positive note, the Explorers who had been shutout in three of the last six games had 12 hits on Tuesday as Martinez, Peter Barrows and Legium Barroso all had two hits each.

After a day off Wednesday, the Explorers will be back in action on Thursday at Lewis and Clark Park as they will start a four-game series with Fargo-Moorhead. Game time Thursday will be 7:05pm as the RedHawks will be here through Sunday.
