RailCats Acquire Brockett

GARY, IN - The Gary SouthShore RailCats added infielder Ryan Brockett in a trade with the Schaumburg Boomers on Wednesday and released left-hander Josh Biggs.

Brockett, who was acquired for future considerations, went 6-for-18 with the Boomers after being signed on June 30. In 2012, he played in 66 games for the Worcester Tornadoes of the Can-Am League playing in the infield and the outfield. Brockett hit .232 with 12 RBI and drew 24 walks as a Tornado.

Ryan played collegiately at the University of New Haven where he stole 67 bases over his four-year career. As a senior, he led the team with a .344 batting average and a .446 on-base percentage; starting all 45 of the team's games at shortstop.

Josh Biggs appeared in two games for the RailCats, he allowed nine runs on seven hits and three walks.
