Many Questions To Be Answered During Saints July 18-21 Homestand

St. Paul Saints News Release

ST. PAUL, MN - The Saints are returning home from a seven game trip to Texas and will play five games in four days in a homestand packed with something for everyone. You won't need to travel to a certain Catholic university in Indiana to cheer on the Irish this week, because we will be going green at Midway Stadium. Why you ask? Well, according to Abbott and Costello he is patrolling left field. While you are busy trying to establish Who is playing across the diamond from Why (he is), we will jump light years into the future and battle for the galaxy. We don't know any Jedi tricks, but we can freeze your mind with plenty of everybody's favorite frozen treat.

The Saints will battle the Grand Prairie AirHogs in a home series that takes place from July 18-21. It all begins at 7:05 p.m. on Thursday, July 18 as we celebrate St. Patrick's Day in July with the help of Ryan Companies. Ryan Companies will be in charge of designing and building the new Lowertown Ballpark and believes in "Building Lasting Relationships", part of the reason they return for another exciting promotion. O boy, it should be a great night that leaves our opponent walking away green with envy. You may not recognize some of the names on the back of the uniforms like MacSheldon, O'Hamburger, and MacTsamis, but we can assure you that it will be your favorite Saints players wearing them and not a bunch of Leprechauns. The Saints will sport special green jerseys for the occasion, and hope to shamrock n' roll in front of a packed house. Also, don't forget to enjoy small-batch beer at special prices on a Brew Pub Pizza Craft Beer Thursday.

There will be a second-helping of Saints baseball on Friday night July 19 as the Saints and AirHogs play a doubleheader with game one beginning at 6:00 p.m. We tried to answer the question in June, but Mother Nature would not cooperate so we take another stab at figuring out the answer to "Who's On First?" on the 75th anniversary of the famous Abbott and Costello comedy routine. The Saints will wear the names of the characters on the back of their uniforms that correspond to the position they play during game two, with the jersey's being auctioned off during the game. We just hope Tomorrow (the pitcher) remembers to show up to throw to Today (catcher) and that it isn't Nobody (right fielder) on the mound. After the game stick around and enjoy great Friday Night Fireworks presented by Xcel Energy.

Episode 3 of this weekend saga will take place Saturday, July 20 at 7:05 p.m. Entertain you throughout the entire evening on Star Wars Night presented by Parsons Electric we will. The Saints will attempt to Leia the lumber on the Evil Empire and the AirHogs alike. Make sure to begin perfecting your Wookie call and you may have a chance to take home a lightsaber or other great prizes. After the game feel free to stick around and watch a screening of the original theatrical release of Star Wars which will be shown on the scoreboard for all to enjoy. Also, boy scouts from the area will get to watch the movie on the field and camp out on our version of Tatooine, the outfield grass. If you are jealous of Han Solo's Millennium Falcon and want to be able to afford one of your own make sure to take part in a St. Croix Casino Big Money $aturday with a chance to win up to $77,777.

If the boy scouts camp out long enough they may be the first in line for frozen treats on Sunday, July 21 at 1:05 p.m. as the Saints celebrate Margaret Thatcher's contributions on National Ice Cream Day. The former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom and leader of the Conservative Party is well known for her role in politics, but the reason she makes us scream is simple. Ice Cream! Back in the 1940's Thatcher was training to become a chemist and worked as part of a research team that helped to make ice cream what it is today. In order to properly pay homage to her we will give away free ice cream sundae cups to the first 500 fans in attendance. After the conclusion of the game, take the kids down to the field where they can run the bases and get autographs from the entire team on a Savers Family Sunday.

After a week in the deep South the Saints couldn't be more ecstatic to return home. They are so happy they may just break into an Irish jig or try to break a Guinness world record for most St. Patrick's Day fun in the middle of summer. By game time on Friday hopefully somebody can figure out who is playing third base because right now I Don't Know is. The Saints will play two games that day, but guess who doesn't care? That's right, the shortstop. If they can't figure that one out they might just hope that the force is strongly on their side. With all that thinking going on try to avoid catching a case of brain freeze as the playoff race heats up and every game is crucial.

Tickets for all Saints regular season home games are available in person at the Saints Box Office, by phone at 651-644-6659 or online at saintsbaseball.com. Tickets for Saints regular season home games are $5 for general admission, $8 for outfield reserved and $12 for infield reserved. Tickets purchased on the Day of the Game are an additional $1 per ticket. Tickets to the September 1 Fireworks Super Show are an additional $3.
