WHL Releases 2015 Pre-Season Schedule

Calgary, AB - The Western Hockey League today announced the pre-season schedule in advance of the 2015-16 season. The schedule includes 66 games beginning on Tuesday, September 1st, and concludes on Sunday, September 19th.

The WHL pre-season schedule features four tournaments. The Everett Silvertips, Tri-City Americans and Regina Pats will host pre-season tournaments while another will be held once again in the Crowsnest Pass.

The Regina Pats' pre-season tournament runs from September 3rd - September 5th, featuring the host Regina Pats, Calgary Hitmen, Moose Jaw Warriors and Prince Albert Raiders.

The Everett Silvertips tournament runs September 4th - September 6th and will feature all five U.S. Division Clubs, the host Everett Silvertips, Portland Winterhawks, Seattle Thunderbirds, Spokane Chiefs and Tri-City Americans along with the Victoria Royals.

The Tri-City Americans' pre-season tournament will run from September 9th - September 12th and will again feature all five U.S. Division Clubs including the host Tri-City Americans, Everett Silvertips, Portland Winterhawks, Seattle Thunderbirds and the Spokane Chiefs. The Kootenay ICE, Prince George Cougars and the Red Deer Rebels will also participate in the tournament.

The Crowsnest Pass tournament runs September 17th - 19th and features the Lethbridge Hurricanes, Kootenay ICE and Calgary Hitmen.

The 2015 WHL pre-season schedule also features 10 games in eight communities outside WHL Club markets, providing an opportunity for hockey fans in other areas of Western Canada to watch exciting WHL action.

In Alberta, WHL pre-season games will be held in Coaldale, Lloydminster, Ralston, St. Albert (two games) and Stettler. In British Columbia, the Vancouver Giants will host the Kamloops Blazers and the Victoria Royals for contests in Ladner, B.C. The Giants will also host the Kelowna Rockets for a pre-season match-up at the Langley Events Centre in Langley, BC. In Saskatchewan, the residents of Warman will be treated to the Prince Albert Raiders facing the Saskatoon Blades.

The 792 game 2015-16 WHL Regular Season schedule will be released on Wednesday, June 24, at 11:00am MT.
