Calgary, AB. -- Western Hockey league commissioner Ron Robison spoke at a press and teleconference today to mark the start of the 2004-2005 season.
Robison's speech before several members of the media and guests - both in person and via teleconference - touched on highlights from last season and a look ahead to what fans can expect for the upcoming season.

In addition to Thursday's State of the Union speech, Robison teamed up with Shaw Cablesystems to announce a three year deal that will offer 55 WHL games only on Shaw TV this season throughout western Canada.
"This builds on a very successful partnership with the WHL," says Peter Bissonnette, President of Shaw Communications. "As we deliver live hockey action to our customers and hockey fans across western Canada, this will be even more important this season. This brand of exciting, fast paced hockey that the WHL serves up makes for fantastic viewing and it's a great addition to the Shaw TV lineup."
The WHL games on Shaw TV will be broadcast primarily on a province wide basis and feature games between the Canadian based teams. The kick-off for the new season features the defending Memorial Cup champion Kelowna Rockets hosting the Kootenay Ice on Wednesday, September 29th.
Shaw Communications Inc. is a diversified Canadian communications company whose core business is providing broadband cable television, internet and satellite direct to home (DTH) services to approximately 2.9 million customers.
