Luis Montano retired the first six Roadrunners (24-8) he faced before allowing a leadoff walk in the third to Robert Matlock, who stole second. Two outs later, Wilmer Pino picked up the Roadrunners' first hit, a double, to make it 1-0.

Ambiorix Concepcion hit a one-out single in the fourth, stole second, moved to third on a passed ball and scored on a sacrifice fly by Carlos Hereaud to make it 2-0.

The WhiteWings (14-19) responded against Mark DiBernardo (4-1) in the top of the fifth when Joel Roa hit a two-run home run, his seventh of the season, to tie the game at 2-2.

Carlos Hereaud hit his sixth home run of the season leading off the top of the seventh to give the Roadrunners a 3-2 lead.

That was it against Montano, who went a season-high seven innings, striking out three while allowing five hits and three walks.

Yeurys Tejeda responed in the top of the eighth with his second home run of the season to tie the game 3-3.

That was it against DiBernardo, who struck out seven in eight innings while scattering eight hits.

Marcel Prado (0-1), who was signed before the game, made his WhiteWings debut in the bottom of the eighth, walking Wilson Batista on four pitches and hitting Concepcion before getting replaced by Luis Martinez. A double-steal put runners on second and third and a passed ball allowed both runners to score. With two outs, Matlock and Alexis Hernandez hit singles. Osiel Flores hit a weak grounder down the third base line and beat the throw. Matlock kept running and scored without a throw to make it 6-3 Roadrunners.

Julio Castro pitched a scoreless ninth for his tenth save.

The WhiteWings and Roadrunners complete this abbreviated series on Sunday at 6:05 p.m. Right-hander Misael DeJesus (0-2) is expected to face right-hander Eric Montoya (5-1).
