San Angelo Colts News Release

Laredo, Texas--- After a three game hiatus from Hurricane Alex the Colts went on a road trip to Laredo and used power to defeat the Broncos in game one. San Angelo came from behind and hit three homeruns in the game and also scored three in ninth to win 8-5.

With Colts ace Ezequiel Astacio on the mound San Angelo backed him with two runs before he even got to the hill. The Colts struck with two right away in the top of the first on a Jason Crosland RBI double and an Adam Hale single, which was just the beginning of the damage both would wreak on the night, which put the Colts up 2-0. Laredo tied it with two of their own the following inning getting a Luany Sanchez RBI single and a David Fowler fielders choice that drove in a run in the second, and the game was knotted at 2-2.

San Angelo scored a couple more, answering right back the very next inning in the third beginning with a leadoff homerun by Jason Crosland (11), to add to his league leading total, and an RBI single by Josh Collazo and the Colts again had a two run lead at 4-2. The Colts would not only give it back but Laredo would take their first lead of the game by scoring solo runs the next three innings in the third, fourth and fifth on RBI singles by Nick Mahin, Ryan Flynn and D.J. Dixon, and Laredo was in front 5-4.

After Jason Crosland scored in the seventh on an a throwing error on a slow roller hit by Landon Camp to tie it 5-5, the Colts would use more power in the ninth to win it. Adam Hale (6) homered to lead off the ninth to put the Colts ahead for the third and final time to make it 6-5. Two batters later Landon Camp (3) hit a monster shot with Josh Collazo on base to put the Colts up 8-5, which would be the final. Ezequiel Astacio did not have his best stuff but gutted out six innings and the bullpen did the rest. Matt Chutchian picked up his third win moving to 3-0 and Michael Hacker mowed down the Broncos in the ninth, striking out two and setting down Laredo in order, to seal the victory.

Saturday the Colts play a pair to make up for Thursday's rainout with more weather hovering over the gulf. The game time has been moved up to 5:05 PM for the double-header. Game one will feature Colts southpaw Aaron Cunningham (2-3, 5.76) against righty Santo Hernandez (4-2, 5.62). Game two will feature Colts right-hander Brian Henschel (2-3, 5.29) against fellow righty Juan Peralta (2-0, 3.19). The twin bill begins with the Kemps pre-game show beginning at 4:50 with the first pitch set for 5:05 on 1260 KKSA.
