Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings News Release

Harlingen - United League Baseball's Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings announced today outfielder Denys Lantigua will miss six months with a dislocated tibia, fractured fibula and torn ligaments in his right ankle.

The WhiteWings have deactivated Lantigua and signed 21-year old outfielder Juan Cabrera.

Lantigua suffered the injury while sliding into second base to break up a double play in the top of the sixth inning during last night's 7-4 win over the Edinburg Roadrunners at Edinburg Baseball Stadium. He had to be carried off the field and taken away on a stretcher.

The only player on this year's team to have played with the WhiteWings in 2006, Lantigua was hitting .395 (15-for-38) in nine games with six RBI and five runs scored.
