
Dillas starter throws complete game in 6-3 win

AMARILLO, TX - Amarillo Dillas starter Richard Jessup went all nine innings and allowed only two earned runs while striking out five as the Dillas defeated the Laredo Broncos by a score of 6-3 on Saturday night in front of 2,641 fans at the Amarillo National Bank Dilla Villa.
Jessup (4-2) lowered his already low ERA to 3.24 and earned his second complete game of the season. Laredo starter Luis Arroyo (1-5) got the loss as he allowed five runs and nine hits though five-and-a-third. Amarillo's Keanon Simon went 3-4 with two runs and an RBI in the effort.
Amarillo took another early lead as Simon walked, Andrew Wong walked and Carlos Figueroa flew out to center, but moved Simon to third. The Dillas leadoff man would score on an error to give the Dillas a 1-0 lead.
Laredo would tie the game in the second as a run scored on an error and would take the lead in the third on a Mario Mendez RBI single for a 2-1 Broncos advantage.
The Dillas would tie the game in the fourth as Wong stepped up with the bases loaded and drew a two-out walk to tie the game at 2-2.
In the fifth, Terrance McClain led off with his fourth homer of the season for a two-run lead. Amarillo would plate two more in the sixth with a Simon RBI single and another error to score Simon again. The Dillas would add on one more in the seventh as Eric Brown tripled and scored on a Brian Bueno RBI sacrifice fly for a 6-2 lead.
The Broncos put a run on the board in the eighth as Mendez doubled and Luany Sanchez singled him home to drop the deficit to 6-3.
Jessup came back out to the mound in the ninth and finished things off for the Dillas to preserve the 6-3 victory.
With the win, the Dillas improve to 23-20, while the Broncos fall to 15-28. Sunday, Amarillo will host Laredo for the final game of a four-game series at 6:05pm with Dillas Pre-Game set to begin at 5:50 pm on AudioSportsOnline.net. Game time is tentative and is subject to blackout.
