Edinburg - The Edinburg Roadrunners scored 13 runs for the second- straight game as they completed the sweep of the Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings with a 13-5 win tonight at Edinburg Baseball Stadium.

The Roadrunners (12-12) batted around in each of the first two innings. Robert Matlock and Eric Gonzalez led off the game with walks against Jorge Lugo (1-3). Vincent Blue hit a grounder to shortstop for a fielder's choice, moving Matlock to third. Carlos Hereaud followed with an RBI-single. He and Blue pulled off a double-steal to move into scoring position. Bryon Smith then hit an RBI-infield-single. Osiel Flores then hit a grounder to second that could have been a double play, but Daisuke Yoshida was taken out by Smith's slide after receiving the throw. Angel Reyes followed with a walk. Ball four was a wild pitch, allowing Hereaud to score and Flores, who had stolen second, to go to third. That ended Lugo's night. Cameron McGuire followed with a two-run triple against Ryan Dixon to make it 5-0.

With one out in second inning, Gonzalez walked and Blue singled. Hereaud and Smith followed with a RBI-singles and then Flores hit an RBI-doubled. One out later, McGuire hit an RBI-single to make it 9-0.

The WhiteWings (10-14) broke through against Miguel Martinez (1-2) in the top of the sixth. Casey Allen was hit by a pitch and Jonathan Poterson singled. One out later, Alberto Cruz launched his fourth home run of the season to make it 9-3.

The Roadrunners got four unearned runs in the bottom of the sixth, though. With one out, Blue singled. With two outs, Smith walked. Pinch- hitter Eunique Johnson then hit a grounder to third, but the throw got away, allowing Vlue to score. Reyes followed with a three-run triple to make it 13-3.

In the top of the eighth, Poterson and Brian Nichols hit one-out singles and Welinson Baez hit a two-run double to make it 13-5.

That was it against Martinez, who struck out eleven while scattering ten hits, three walks and two hit batsmen in the complete game victory.

The WhiteWings welcome the Amarillo Dillas to Harlingen Field for the first of a four-game series tomorrow night at 7:05. Right-hander Maximino de la Cruz (0-2) is expected to face right-hander Ralph Roberts (1-0), who leads the league with a 1.25 ERA.
