Amarillo - The Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings allowed five runs in each of the second and third innings in a 12-1 loss to the Amarillo Dillas Tuesday at Amarillo National Bank Dilla Villa.

The Dillas (11-9) scored right away against Stephen Whalen (0-2). Adam De La Garza drew a leadoff walk, stole second and scored on a one-out single by Carlos Figueroa.

The Dillas added five unearned runs in the second to take a 6-0 lead. With two on and two out, De La Garza hit a grounder to short. Jose Fulgencio threw it away as two runs scored. TJ Warren hit an RBI-double, Figueroa hit an RBI-single, and after a walk to Daryl Jones, Stephen Douglas hit an RBI-single to make it 6-0.

With one out in the third, Jason Moody gave up five more runs (four earned). Kent Wright and Jermel Lomack singled, De La Garza walked, Warren reached on an error to score two runs, and Figueroa hit a three-run home run to make it 11-0.

The WhiteWings (11-9) couldn't get anything going against Ralph Roberts (1-2), who allowed two singles and one walk while striking out three in six innings. He retired 16-straight batters from the end of the first inning through the start of the sixth.

Joel Roa hit his fifth home run of the season in the top of the ninth against Zachary Cole to supply the WhiteWings' offense.

The Dillas added one run in the eighth against shortstop-turned-pitcher Fulgencio.

The WhiteWings and Dillas play game three of this four game series Wednesday at 7:05 p.m. Left-hander Greg Conrad (0-1) is expected to face left-hander Ronald Lowe (2-0).
