WhiteWings Acquire Shortstop from Edinburg

Harlingen - United League Baseball's Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings announced today they have acquired shortstop Angel Reyes from the Edinburg Roadrunners for future considerations.

To make room on the roster, the WhiteWings released catcher Danny Etkin.

Reyes was hitting .259 for the Roadrunners with four doubles, one triple, one home run and 17 RBI in 30 games. He is batting sixth at shortstop today, moving Joaquin Rodriguez to third base and Welinson Baez to the bench.

A 23-year old native of Buffalo, New York, Reyes spent 2002- through-2006 in the Detroit Tigers farm system and has a career .231 batting average with 20 doubles, seven triples, 12 home runs and 55 RBI in 131 games.

Etkin started the season with the WhiteWings, hitting .244 (10-41) with one home runs and four RBI for being traded to the San Angelo Colts on June 28 for Brian Nichols. Etkin played in four games for the Colts, picking up a hit in each contest while going 4-17 (.235) with one run scored. Etkin was 4-17 (.235) in five games after re-joining the team,
