
Whitecaps FC Residency Win Pair of Matches Over Seattle Sounders

Whitecaps FC Residency teams won a pair of Development Academy matches against Cascadia rivals Seattle Sounders FC Academy on Saturday.
U-18
A back-and-forth match ended 4-2 for the U-18s.
Seattle scored first in the 11th minute, but the 'Caps rebounded to tie it up from a corner kick with Georges Mukumbilwa smashing home a right-footed volley from 22 yards out. The Blue and White then went ahead in the 30th minute as Ethan Gopaul finished a Nicolas Apostol cross with his right foot.
In the 70th minute, Theo Bair doubled the advantage, finishing a second effort from a corner kick. The match was then put to bed in the 88th minute as Noah Verhoeven finished with a left foot strike after being played in by Bair.
"Overall, we're pleased to get a good team performance," said U-18 assistant coach Niall Thompson. "The defensive unit in the second half was excellent. We have a big road trip to San Jose now with three matches in five days."

The U-16s took a 2-0 victory.
Captain Alessandro Hojabrpour scored first with a deft flick from a Gabriel Escobar cross on 24 minutes. Nine minutes later it was 2-0 when Jose Hernandez made a driving run and finish at the top of the box.
"We were unplayable in the first half," said U-16 head coach Adam Day. "We completed dominated and deserved the lead. We were average in the second half, but rarely tested. A good result against a rival."
