
Whitecaps Back on Track in 8-5 Win

West Michigan Whitecaps News Release
COMSTOCK PARK, MI - The West Michigan Whitecaps got big hits when it counted as they defeated the South Bend Cubs 8-5 Tuesday night at Fifth Third Ballpark.
South Bend opened the scoring with two runs in the first inning against Whitecaps starting pitcher Ross Seaton. The righty had only allowed one unearned run in 15 innings this season prior to Tuesday's first inning. West Michigan responded by taking the lead in the third when Mike Gerber lined an RBI-single to left, and Zach Shepherd lifted a two-run triple into the right field corner. Ross Kivett put the game out of reach with a double to score two runs, giving West Michigan all the offensive support they needed. The 'Caps went 6-for-11 with runners in scoring position on Tuesday.
Seaton (3-0) earned the victory for West Michigan, after pitching seven innings allowing five runs. Johan Belisario struck out four in two innings to earn his second save.
DAMAGED PANKAKE
Whitecaps infielder Joey Pankake left the ballgame in the fourth inning Tuesday with a sore groin. Pankake had taken over as West Michigan's leadoff hitter on Sunday.
TRAVELIN' TRAMMELL
Tigers legend Alan Trammell is in-town spending the week with the Whitecaps. The six-time All-Star returned to the team as a special assistant to General Manager Dave Dombrowski during the offseason.
