White Sox Purchase Contract of Omogrosso from Knights

(Fort Mill, SC) -Earlier today the Chicago White Sox purchased the contract of Charlotte right-handed pitcher Brian Omogrosso to take the place of RHP Brian Bruney, who was placed on the 15-day disabled list with left hip inflammation.

Omogrosso, 28, is now the seventh Charlotte Knights player this season to go from Charlotte to Chicago. RHP Dylan Axelrod, LHP Eric Stults, LHP Jose Quintana, OF Jordan Danks, Bruney and LHP Leyson Septimo are the others. He also becomes the second Knights pitcher in two days to go from Charlotte to Chicago (Septimo had his contract purchased on Thursday).

In 21 appearances this season for Charlotte, the 6'4" right-hander posted a 0-1 mark with two saves and a 4.09 ERA. In seven games during the month of June, Omogrosso was 0-1 with two saves and a 1.93 ERA (9.1 innings pitched).

The Beaver, PA native was originally selected by the White Sox in the sixth round of the 2006 First-Year Player Draft. He was a non-roster invitee to White Sox camp this spring.

Last season, in 11 games with the Knights, Omogrosso posted a 1-1 mark with a 4.03 ERA. He also went 0-2 with a 2.51 ERA in 31 games for Double-A Birmingham.
