White Sox Promote INF Ronald Bueno to Charlotte

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Charlotte Knights and the Chicago White Sox announced before the game today that the team has promoted infielder Ronald Bueno from Birmingham. To keep the roster at 25, infielder Jake Peter was also activated today off the disabled list for the Barons.

Bueno, 24, was hitting .222 with one home run and three RBI in 14 games for Birmingham this season after being called up from Winston-Salem on May 19. The Santiago, D.R. native was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Cincinnati Reds in 2009. The infielder spent seven seasons in the Reds organization, culminating in playing 24 games for the Pensacola Blue Wahoos in 2016. Bueno joined the White Sox as a free agent in November 2016.

Peter, 24, had been on the disabled list since May 19. The infielder is hitting .230 in 39 games played this season, including 34 hits, three home runs, and nine RBI. His eight doubles are also tied for the team lead. The Mason City, Iowa native hit .283 in 2016 in 130 games split between Birmingham and Charlotte, knocking 136 hits, six home runs and 53 runs batted in. A seventh round draft pick of the White Sox out of Creighton University, Peter entered the 2016 season rated by Baseball America as having the best strike zone discipline in the White Sox organization.

The Barons will be back in action with a doubleheader in Kodak tonight, with first pitch of game one scheduled for 5:00 p.m. CT. Right-hander Matt Cooper will take the ball for the Barons in the first game, with a starter for game to be announced, and righty Jen-Ho Tseng will get the ball for the Smokies in game one, with RHP Brad Markey scheduled to throw in the nightcap.?
